Overview of the Project Interface
Familiarise yourself with the Microsoft Project environment, exploring its comprehensive features and how they can be customised to support your project management needs. Understand navigation, toolbars, and settings to maximise project oversight.
Views and Tables
Gain a deep understanding of how to configure and use various views and tables within Microsoft Project to effectively manage project data. Learn to utilise tables such as Entry, Tracking, Variance, and Cost, along with views including the Gantt Chart, Detailed Gantt, Tracking Gantt, and Resource Sheet to present and analyze project information clearly. Additionally, master the process of creating custom tables to better meet your specific project management needs.
Creating and Linking Tasks
Learn the intricacies of task creation, from simple to complex structures, and how to organise them effectively to build a robust project timeline. Focus on setting milestones and creating summary tasks that help mark significant phases and structure your project hierarchy. Additionally, understand how to link tasks using the four relationship types—Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start, Finish-to-Finish, and Start-to-Finish—to accurately model dependencies and project workflows.
Milestones and Summary Tasks

Develop skills in setting and managing milestones and understanding their critical role in project tracking. Learn to use summary tasks to group related tasks and manage project sections more effectively.

Scheduling Predecessors and Successors

Explore how to link tasks using the four types of task relationships: Finish-to-Start (FS), Start-to-Start (SS), Finish-to-Finish (FF), and Start-to-Finish (SF). These relationships help create a logical, efficient project schedule.

Identifying the Critical Path

Learn methods to identify the critical path in your projects, allowing for focused management of tasks that directly impact project timelines. Understanding the critical path is essential for prioritising tasks and allocating resources efficiently.

Constraints and Deadlines

Master the strategic use of constraints and deadlines to manage and adjust project timelines effectively. Learn how deadlines differ from constraints and how to use both to guide project execution while maintaining flexibility.
